On 3 July 2014 Hyderabad-based LCGC Broadcasting India headed by Suresh Reddy launched the Channel for the newly created state Telangana while its sister channel 6TV will have its presence in both the Telugu Speaking States.The Channel 6TV Telangana will be more localised with news reading in Telugu. The programming will also depicts the lifestyle of Telangana People. 6TV Telangana will have three bureaus in Hyderabad, Warangal and Nizamabad.

When launching time Telangana has only two dedicated news channels, ETV Telangana and T News, with the latter being owned by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. The Telugu news market is dotted with politically affiliated channels. TV9, one of the biggest players in the market, is planning to launch a separate channel for the residuary state of Andhra Pradesh. The existing TV9 channel will become a Telangana-centric channel once TV9 Andhra Pradesh is launched. The Telugu news ad market is in the region of Rs 150–175 crore (Rs 1.5–1.75 billion), with Hyderabad contributing almost 75 per cent to the ad pie.
